Greg Chappell started and finished his Test career with a bang, scoring a century in both Tests. Across his entire Test career, he scored 7,110 runs at an average of 53.86. He also shone in the ODI arena, scoring 2,331 runs at an average of 40.18.
Player Bio
Born on August 7, 1948, Greg Chappell captained Australia between 1975 and 1977, before joining World Series Cricket for two years. He returned to lead Australia in 1979 till his retirement in 1984. Chappell made his Test debut against England in 1970 and went on to score 7,110 runs in 87 Test matches. He also picked up 47 wickets at an average of 40.70 with his medium pace bowling. In One-Day Internationals, Chappell scored 2,331 runs from 74 matches at an average of 40.18 and bagged 72 wickets with best figures of 5 for 15. Chappell has been involved with various business and media endeavours post his retirement. He has also been a selector for the Australian national team and coached the Indian cricket team from 2005 to 2007.
