South AfricaA leading run-scorer and reliable seam bowler, Jacques Kallis often drew comparisons to Sir Garfield Sobers and, in the same vein, was regarded as one of the most complete cricketers ever to have played the game. In 519 matches across formats, he scored 25,534 international runs and claimed 577 wickets.
Player Bio
Born on 16 October 1975 in Capetown, Jacques Kallis made his international debut in late 1995 and went on to play international cricket until July 2014, representing South Africa in 166 Tests, 328 ODIs and 25 T20Is.
He broke several global and South African records. Most notably, he is the only batsman from his country to score over 10,000 runs in both Tests and ODIs. His 13,289 runs in Test cricket came at an average of 55.37 – the highest for anyone who has scored over 10,000 runs, barring Kumar Sangakkara, while his tally of 45 Test tons is bettered only by Sachin Tendulkar. The final hundred, against India in Durban, was an emphatic note on which to end his career.
Majestic as his batting statistics are in isolation, Kallis was a skillful operator with the ball as well. His 577 international wickets, including seven five-fors, came at an average of 32.14.
