Born on October 6, 1930 in Penrith, New South Wales, Richie Benaud was a former Australian all-rounder who played Test cricket from 1952 to 1964. Benaud captained Australia between 1958 and 1964, and scored 2,201 runs and took 248 wickets at an average of 27.03 in 63 games. After retiring, Benaud turned to full-time cricket journalism and commentary and became the face of Channel Nine’s cricket coverage in the subsequent years. He passed away in April of 2015.
