ICC thanks Cricket West Indies and T20 USA, Inc. for hosting ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has thanked Cricket West Indies (CWI) and T20 USA, Inc. for the successful hosting of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which has captured the imagination of the cricket world.
India beat South Africa to claim their second Men’s T20 World Cup in front of a packed crowd at the Kensington Oval in Barbados signifying the culmination of a World Cup filled with high-energy cricket and pulsating entertainment. The 2024 edition saw 55 matches take place across 28 days which marked an exciting milestone in the expansion of the sport with more teams than before competing in the biggest ICC event ever.
The event was delivered from 1 to 29 June across nine host locations in the West Indies and the USA, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Lauderhill in Florida, Nassau County in New York and Dallas in Texas.
ICC Chair Greg Barclay said: “We are delighted with the success of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which has captured the imagination of cricket fans globally and recorded unprecedented interest from fans in the USA.
“It is fantastic to see the success of the World Cup in the USA on the first step of our long-term strategy to bring cricket into the biggest sports market in the world. As a key strategic priority area for the sport, we now look forward to growing the game over the next four years towards the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
“It was also truly wonderful to take an ICC event back to the West Indies and see fans enjoying a genuine Caribbean cricket experience across our six diverse host countries.
“I’d like to thank Cricket West Indies and T20 USA, Inc. for delivering a World Cup that was a true carnival celebration of action-packed cricket. Thank you must also go to the Match Officials and to the ICC staff for delivering such a successful event.
