Muzarabani gains big in ICC Men's Test Bowling Rankings

Media Release

Blessing Muzarabani has become just the second player from Zimbabwe to reach 700 rating points in the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings after helping his team complete their first away Test win since 2021 with a three-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Sylhet.

The 28-year-old fast bowler was named Player of the Match after returning figures of three for 50 and six for 72 in the two innings, advancing 14 places and reaching a career-best 15th position with 705 rating points.

The Late Heath Streak is the only other player from Zimbabwe to go past the 700-point mark in the Test bowling rankings, reaching a maximum of 794 points in 1996 and was last above the mark in 2001.

Zimbabwe left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza has re-entered the rankings in joint-68th position with Nahid Rana after picking five wickets in the match while Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 10-wicket match haul has helped him move up four places to 26th position.

The batting rankings saw quite a few players from the home side move up despite the defeat.

Mominul Haque’s scores of 56 and 47 took him from 53rd to 48th position while wicketkeeper Jaker Ali (up 10 places to 50th) and captain Najmul Hosssain Shanto (up four places to 53rd) have also gained after notching half-centuries in the second innings.

Zimbabwe opener Brian Bennett’s scores of 57 and 54 have lifted him up 54 places into the world’s top 100 for the first time in his career.
