17 February - Cape Town - Bangladesh player Fahima Khatun post-match press conference
[Reporter]
You seem to take quite a painful blow on the ankle, how's that feeling?
[Fahima Khatun]
Yeah, it's really painful for me, but now it will be okay as I did some icing and it needs some more icing then it will be okay, hopefully.
[Reporter]
And just in terms of the general, it seemed that the spinners were getting a little bit more out of it than the seamers, how do you think the surface played and were you guys happy to concede that amount of runs?
[Fahima Khatun]
Yes, we have a very good bowling side, but unfortunately today we are really disappointed. They played really well and get a bigger score. In a T20, it will be a big score. So unfortunately, it will be disappointing but yeah, in the future, we have learnt a lot of things from today's match.
[Reporter]
You've been losing continuously on the trot, you have a good amount of think tanks, including Trisha Shetty, you have Hashan Tillakaratne and you have some of the big names also Anju Jain in the past. You've been learning despite 15 losses at the trot and we're talking about the Asian champions at some stage in the past, was that a fluke or this is an exception to your performance because this has been going downhill for a long, your views?
[Fahima Khatun]
Yes, we played a lot of games in Asian countries, but now when we get in a Super 8 the time we played in a subcontinent team, but we don't have much experience in that type of pitch and condition. But yeah, we learned a lot of things and we're trying our best as a team and individuals performance. [Thank you.]
[Reporter]
New Zealand had done really badly before this match, especially as a batting side. Do you think there was any complacency from Bangladesh? Did you expect them to fall over again? [Sorry?] Were you expecting the New Zealanders to bat as poorly in this match as they have done in their previous two matches?
[Fahima Khatun]
Yes, they did really well. They didn't give any chances when they were batting. Suzie Bates did really well and we just bowled to our plan, but we didn't utilize it properly. So that's why they get a more score easily.
[Reporter]
One more question that I need to sneak in. We talked about the plan and you're considering that in 2024 we have a match, the World Cup happening in your country. Now, what is your plan running up from here? Ideally, it was directed toward the coach and the think tank. But what do you think is a plan of action from here to the World Cup as a player?
[Fahima Khatun]
Yes, I think we are a very good team as a team, but unfortunately, we didn't have a performance as a team. Yes, before this match our captain did really well and played really well and one youngster today did batting really well. But yes, I'm trying as an all-rounder. Yes, I'm trying my best and when I played as a batsman and bowling, we have very good team planning and individual planning. But unfortunately, yeah, last three months against Sri Lanka and Australia, we did it as a bowling group and fielding. It was very good, but unfortunately, today is very disappointing for us.

Anyone on Zoom would like to take a question?
[Reporter]
We've spoken about the disappointment. Let's look at the positives, especially the under-19, two of the talents that have emerged in your team. Do you want to talk about them?
[Fahima Khatun]
Yeah, Marufa and Shorna. Shauna is a batsman all-rounder like a spinner and Marufa did really well in the last two games. She bowled really well and today, unfortunately, she was very disappointed when we go after the first innings. I just told her, don't be disappointed. You did really well. It's unfortunate today. They did really well and played really well. So don't be upset and we have one more game. Just play your normal game. Thank you.
