Sir Garfield Sobers

50th anniversary of Sir Garfield Sobers' six sixes

Sir Garfield Sobers

Sobers was the first man to achieve the remarkable feat, during a 1968 county game for Nottinghamshire against Glamorgan in Swansea. Left-armer Malcolm Nash was the unfortunate bowler on the receiving end of the great all-rounder's brilliance that day.

And, during a match in the 2018 CPL at the Kensington Oval, Sobers and this historic day 50 years ago, was honoured.

"I never went out with any anticipation of hitting six sixes," Sobers told ICC Cricket 360. "It's only when I got to the last one, I decided 'I am too close now, I have to hit this last ball for six'."

The former Windies captain is widely regarded as the finest all-rounder of all time.
