Afghanistan batter ruled out of New Zealand Test, South Africa series

Afghanistan's Ibrahim Zadran will miss the one-off Test against New Zealand and the following ODI series against South Africa.

Ibrahim Zadran has been ruled out of the one-off Test against New Zealand and the ODI series against South Africa due to an ankle sprain, Afghanistan confirmed.

The top-order batter, who is one of only four Test centurions for Afghanistan, will be a big miss for the side as they take on New Zealand for the first time in Test cricket in Greater Noida from Monday, September 9.

Afghanistan are also scheduled to play South Africa in a three-match ODI series in UAE following the Test match. The series will take place from 18-22 September and will be the first meeting between Afghanistan and South Africa outside of ICC tournaments.

All three games set to be hosted by ACB at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Afghanistan are yet to name a replacement for Zadran for the three-match ODI series against the Proteas.
