Afghanistan name experienced India coach as new assistant
Experienced coach joins Jonathan Trott's coaching staff for upcoming matches against New Zealand and South Africa.
Afghanistan have added experienced India coach R Sridhar to their coaching panel for their upcoming fixtures against New Zealand and South Africa.
Sridhar joins Jonathan Trott's staff as an assistant coach and will feature during the upcoming one-off Test against New Zealand and three-match ODI series against South Africa.
The 54-year-old played 35 first-class matches and 15 List A contests for Hyderabad, making his mark as a left-arm spinner that netted more than 100 wickets from those appearances.
But it is in coaching that Sridhar has made his biggest impression, having been a part of India's coaching staff for two ICC Men's Cricket World Cups and two ICC Men's T20 World Cups in recent times.
Afghanistan are hoping the short-term coaching deal with Sridhar will turn into an even longer arrangement.
