Afghanistan name ODI squad for Sri Lanka series

Afghanistan have named a 15-member squad with four reserve players for the ODI leg of the Sri Lanka tour.

Afghanistan named a strong squad for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka that follows the Test matches.

Rashid Khan misses out yet again from the squad as he continues to recover from the back surgery done late last year.

Sri Lanka debutant Chamika Gunasekara substituted after blow to the head

Qais Ahmed takes his place as the wrist spinner in the squad. Mohammad Saleem Safi, meanwhile, has been ruled out of the ODIs with a hamstring injury, which will also prevent his further participation in the ongoing Test match, where he made his debut in red-ball cricket.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz led Afghanistan to a fine victory over Sri Lanka with a brilliant century

Naveed Zadran, who made his Test debut in the ongoing game in Colombo, has been included in the ODI squad to face Sri Lanka.

The series begins from February 9 with all three matches to be played in Pallekele.
