But it wasn’t just with the bat that Latham featured. His remarkable caught and bowled off Tom Moody remains one of the defining images of New Zealand’s tournament and helped spark a famous victory over Australia.

We went around the wicket with Latham to ask him six questions about the 1992 tournament and what we can expect to see at #cwc15.

What venue are you most looking forward to seeing in action next year?
Definitely Hagley Oval in Christchurch. It’s come up really well so far and with it being a new ground it will be exciting to see how it all pans out.

What do you put New Zealand’s success in 1992 down to?
Good planning. We had Wally (Warren Lees) and Hogan (Martin Crowe) who planned thoroughly for the tournament. And we had 14 guys in the squad who were prepared to put their body on the line.

Who is your New Zealand player to watch in 2015?
There are probably three or four who could stand out. Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson are looking good in the middle order, and with the ball, Tim Southee and Trent Boult are quality. Between them - they probably hold the key to New Zealand’s success.

What is your pick for game of the tournament in 2015?
New Zealand-Australia is always going to be a big game. There are plenty of other great match-ups throughout the tournament, but the New Zealand-Australia clash at Eden Park will be a big one.

Did you know that you would also have a role with the ball in 1992?
It wasn’t really planned but once we saw the wickets it panned out that way. Harry (Chris Harris) and Gavin (Larsen) were always going to bowl and my bowling was just a bit of a bonus.

Your pick to make the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 final?
New Zealand, I think they are dark-horses. And I will say India. A New Zealand-India final would be big.
