Commenting on the squad, YSP Chairman Greg Chappell said; "We've made three changes to the initial 31-player squad the YSP selected back in February.
"The unlucky players to go out of the squad are South Australian Alex Carey, New South Welshman Angus Robson and Queenslander Michael Johnson.
"After keeping a close eye on recent performances, West Australian Phil Adams and New South Welshman Timm Van Der Gugten have come into the 30-player preliminary squad which has been submitted to the ICC in preparation for January's World Cup.
"Those three players who have missed out are no doubt disappointed, however this is far from the end for these players and I have no doubt we'll be seeing plenty more from them in years to come.
"We saw Adams competing in last year's championships and followed his good performances in grade cricket as an impressive all-rounder, while Van Der Gugten is another talented quick from New South Wales who has been in our sights for some time.
"There is now less than two months before we depart for New Zealand so every performance between now and then will be closely monitored.
"All club and state performances will be followed with interest over the coming weeks and we are very confident that by the time we sit down later next month to select the final squad we will have plenty of headaches on the final make-up.
"There's plenty of exciting talent coming through and developing quickly and I'm looking forward to seeing who really puts their hand up with some standout performances."
The final Australia Under-19 ICC World Cup squad to go to New Zealand will be named later in December following the CA National Under-19 Championships in Canberra (29 November - 10 December) and the inaugural Futures League Twenty20 in Melbourne (14 - 17 December). The Futures League Twenty20 is a new component of interstate second XI competition (formerly CA Cup): www.cricket.com.au/FuturesLeague.
The ICC Under-19 World will be held in New Zealand from 15 - 30 January 2010. Australia is seeded sixth and sits in Group B with South Africa, Ireland and USA.
Australia Under-19's first match is against the USA in Queenstown on 16 January. They then play Ireland the following day before finishing the group stage against South Africa on 20 January.
