Basin Reserve - Travel

HOW TO GET TO THE VENUE

Always allow more time than you expect to get to and from the venue on your match day and aim to arrive at least 45 minutes before the start of the game. Traffic congestion can be heavy for the majority of cricket events, particularly during peak commuter travel times. CWC22 recommends spectators use public transport wherever possible.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Metlink brings a public bus, rail and ferry transport network to the wider Wellington region, including Wellington City, Hutt Valley, Porirua, Kāpiti Coast and the Wairarapa.

Transport Tickets and Fares

There are no eftpos facilities on Metlink services. Cash is required.

  • All car parks have a 2hour time limit.

Coupon Parking

Areas of the City, including some surrounding streets near the Basin Reserve, are coupon parking zones. These zones allow you to park for longer than 2 hours. The first 2 hours are free, but to park for longer, you must have a valid coupon. See above website.

Resident Parking

Ensure you avoid resident parking areas if you do not have a permit. These permits allow people who live in busy streets to park near their homes.
