Bay Oval - Venue
Tauranga is one of the fastest growing regions in New Zealand and is home of the Bay Oval. At the base of Mauao (Mt Maunganui), one of Aotearoa’s most popular beach towns, the picturesque grass banks are a cricket fans dream. The ground was built in Blake Park and opened in 2005.
Bay Oval has hosted men's and women's international matches since 2014. It hosted its first Test match in November 2019 and it’s first Boxing Day test in 2020.
Bay Oval now comprises an international level cricket ground, wickets, outdoor (grass) practice nets and a newly completed pavilion, with player facilities second to none in New Zealand. Bay Oval has become a facility which is the home of cricket in the Bay of Plenty, and a focal point for all cricket lovers and players alike!
Bay Oval will host 7 matches of the CWC22, including the Opening match on 4 March 2022.
