Cayman Islands make it two in two
Cayman Islands 165/5 (C Hauptsfliech 28, AE Hall 26, R Sealy 26, T Taylor 35, C Wright 27) BEAT Bermuda 103/10 (K Bazil 3/13, T Taylor 3/17, A Morris 4/21) by 64 runs.
An all-round performance by Troy Taylor led Cayman Islands to a 62-run win over Bermuda in the third match of the ICC World T20 Americas Sub Regional Qualifier.
Taylor’s 18-ball 35 lifted Cayman Islands to 165/5 on Wednesday, 28 February, at Hurlingham Club in Argentina. Then, his 3/17, along with 4/21 for Alessandro Morris and 3/13 for Kevin Bazil had Bermuda bowled out for 103 in 18.4 overs.
Choosing to bat, Cayman Islands got off to a slow start. Ramon Sealy, the captain at No.4, gave the run-rate a boost before Taylor took over. Taylor smashed three sixes during his stay.
Conroy Wright played the perfect cameo in the death, adding an unbeaten 27 in 11 balls.
Taylor returned to send back the Bermuda openers in consecutive overs inside the Powerplay. Morris then ran through the middle order, as no batsman got going, and Bazil cleaned up the tail.
This was Cayman Islands’ second win of the tournament in as many matches.
