China and Malaysia battle to win semi-final spot
Victories for China and Malaysia on Tuesday have set up a potentially dramatic final day of group matches at the ACC Women's Twenty20 Championships on Wednesday.
China defeated the UAE by 31 runs, while Malaysia won a tight encounter against Kuwait by three wickets with just three balls remaining, meaning there is still all to play for coming into the last round of matches in Group B with the two sides level on points behind the leaders Hong Kong.
With Hong Kong still undefeated and boasting an excellent net run-rate, after a crushing 136-run win over Oman, Malaysia knows that it will probably need to beat the group leaders on Wednesday if it is progress to Friday's semi-finals. Meanwhile China will face Oman, who has won just one match at the event to date.
In Group A, Nepal and Thailand both continued their unbeaten records in this tournament to date and have therefore sealed a place in the semi-finals.
Nepal bowled Bhutan out for just 31 all out, in an eight-wicket victory, with Nary Thapa taking extraordinary figures of 5-5. Thailand also enjoyed a comfortable win as it defeated Iran by 67 runs.
The top two sides in the group meet on Wednesday to decide who will be the pool winners.
