Confident Shivam Dube backs India to win series against West Indies

Dube, who is set to add to his three T20I caps during the series, feels India have the resources to upstage West Indies. "They have got a good T20 side but we have prepared very nicely. I think India is the best team in world cricket and we will win the series," he said ahead of the first T20I on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old made his debut in the recent series against Bangladesh, which India won 2-1. While he wasn't able to display his abilities with the bat mostly due to lack of opportunity, he gave a glimpse of his bowling skills in the third game, taking 3/30 to help India win the decider. He feels he can play the role of a full bowler in the shortest format.

"I'm very confident as a bowler," Dube said. "It's a T20 game and yes every bowler gets a bad game and a good game. So, I prepare myself for very good situations and I feel I can be in the bowling side also as a proper bowler who can bowl four overs and I've done that job. It really feels good."

Dube acknowledged that the step up from domestic to international cricket can be daunting, but he has the belief that he can consistently perform at the highest level. "Yes, [the switch from domestic to international cricket] has been very difficult and being an allrounder is a difficult job and [it's] more important for me to prepare my fitness level because as allrounder you need to bat and bowl also. The fitness is really a difficult job and yes I've done something and I'm proving it," Dube said. "I'll go more further."

Part of his confidence stems from the support he has received from the team management. "Everyone is supporting me very highly," Dube said. "The support from the captain and support staff has been very good for me and they give me a lot of confidence. So, [I] felt really happy and relaxed in the dressing room and the ground also."
