'Congratulations to Usman Khawaja, all credit goes to him' – Sarfraz Ahmed

Going into final day, Pakistan needed just seven wickets for victory. Having seen Australia's middle-order crumble first time round, Pakistan would have seen themselves as firm favourites to secure a win but defiant innings from Travis Head, Tim Paine, and most importantly Usman Khawaja ensured that Australia saved the game with two wickets to spare.

Speaking after the game, Sarfraz was quick to praise Khawaja whose fourth innings hundred was not only his first in Asia but the longest fourth innings effort in terms of minutes by any Australian ever.

"Credit goes to Usman Khawaja," Sarfraz said. "He really was a lone warrior and it's because of him that this match was drawn. The way he batted, all credit goes to him."

"On a fifth day, it's not easy to bat on these kind of pitches. With all the rough patches it was very difficult to bat. Tim Paine deserves a lot of credit as well. I'm very disappointed with the result but today cricket is the winner."

The second and final Test of the series starts in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
