Chasing a target of 129 to win the three-match T20I series with a game to spare, the home team's openers Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney gave their side a solid start, stitching a half-century stand.

Healy, who earlier in the game set a new benchmark by going past MS Dhoni's tally of 91 wicket-keeping dismissals in the shortest format, looked in fine touch with the bat. She made a quick 33 from just 17 balls, studded with five fours and a six.

Soon after Healy's dismissal, her partner, Mooney, also fell for 24, off Amelia Kerr. Skipper Meg Lanning (26* off 32) and Rachael Haynes then took the mantle, chasing down the target in 16.4 overs. Haynes finished as the top-scorer, making 40* runs from 31 balls.

Earlier, New Zealand lost their openers Sophie Devine and Maddy Green inside the first four overs after opting to bat. After early hiccups, experienced batters Suzie Bates and Amy Satterthwaite steadied the innings. Healy was superb behind the stumps, effecting a timely stumping to send Satterthwaite back for 30 before taking a sharp catch to dismiss Lauren Down.

At the 10-over mark, New Zealand were on 68/3, but from that point, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 128 with four balls to spare in the innings.

The New Zealand batters struggled to build partnerships. After Satterthwaite, Bates' 22 was the highest score for the side with no one else crossing 15.

Delissa Kimmince and Georgia Wareham shared six wickets between them while Sophie Molineux, who went wicket-less in the previous match, returned 2/17 from her four overs and was adjudged Player of the Match.
