England go 2-0 up with all-round performance

West Indies captain Stafanie Taylor made the choice to bowl first, but Tammy Beaumont and Danni Wyatt got off to a strong start as they put on 30 runs in the first three overs.

Shakera Selman reclaimed control, going for just four runs in her first over as well as having Beaumont well caught at mid-on.

After the Powerplay, the visitors then put themselves on top as Taylor had Nat Sciver stumped before a mix-up allowed Deandra Dottin to run out Wyatt.

Heather Knight and Amy Jones kept the innings moving with a 40-run partnership before Hayley Matthews dismissed Jones to spark a run of three wickets for 10 runs.

But Sarah Glenn and Katherine Brunt prevented any further inroads until the final over, by which time they had added 46 runs from 31 balls, with Sophie Ecclestone capping off the innings with 11 runs from four balls to take England to 151/8.

Brunt then took charge with the ball too, having Matthews caught at cover off a leading edge in the third over with just 11 runs on the board.

Dottin and Taylor got things back on track though, and they took the visitors past the halfway mark of the innings without further loss, although despite plenty of boundaries they found themselves falling behind the required rate.

The West Indies captain also passed 3000 runs in T20Is, becoming just the second player to do so across the men's and women's games, joining New Zealand batter Suzie Bates in the elite club.

But just as Dottin was beginning to threaten to really get going, Glenn trapped the Windies opener in front with the last ball of the 12th over to severely hamper the chase, with a new batter coming to crease and 10 runs per over required.

Jones then showed off her ability behind the stumps, with Lee-Ann Kirby and Taylor both falling to stumpings in the next two overs.

The innings never got back on track from there as England's bowlers hammered home their advantage to leave Windies 96/8 with two overs left, before Afy Fletcher and Selman batted out the innings to reach 104/8 to leave a final margin of victory for the hosts of 47 runs – the same margin as they recorded in the opening game of the series.

England are now 2-0 up with three matches left in the series, with the third game being played at the same ground on Saturday, 26 September.
