England name keeper-batter and pacer as injury replacements for South Africa tour

Seren Smale and Ryana MacDonald-Gay have been called up by the England Women for the ongoing T20I and Test series respectively against the Proteas Women.

England Women, who are 1-0 up in the T20I series against South Africa, have roped in wicketkeeper-batter Seren Smale to the T20I and Test squads, following Bess Heath’s unfortunate withdrawal due to a fractured thumb.

Smale will join the T20I camp on Tuesday as the visitors continue preparations for the second T20I in Benoni on Wednesday.

Additionally, seamer Ryana MacDonald-Gay has been added to the Test squad and will link up with the team on the day of their second T20I.

Both Smale and MacDonald-Gay made their senior international debuts earlier this year during their tour of Ireland in September, highlighting their potential on the international stage.

Having come out on top in the first T20I by four wickets, after Nat Sciver-Brunt led from the front with a blistering half-century, England Women will be raring to go for the second T20I with momentum in their favour.
