Leach suffered a concussion when he tried to stop a boundary in the sixth over on the first day of the Lord's Test – Matt Parkinson replaced him as a substitute – but has been deemed fit to play after finishing his mandatory seven-day concussion return-to-play protocol.

England have named an unchanged XI from the side that sealed an easy five-wicket victory in the first Test. They bowled New Zealand out for 132 in the first innings, securing a slim lead of nine runs, and then came back to bowl them out for under 300 in the second innings.

Chasing a target of 279 with almost two days in hand, England managed to secure a five-wicket win thanks to Joe Root's fine century, during which he also became the 14th player to breach the 10,000-run mark in Test cricket.

The second Test begins at Trent Bridge on Friday, 10 June.
