England Women part ways with head coach Jon Lewis
Lewis took charge of the England dressing room in November 2022, and was part of the team management across two ICC Women’s T20 World Cups.
England Women’s head coach Jon Lewis on Friday, March 21 stepped down from his role.
With Lewis in-charge, England won 52 off the 73 games they featured in across formats since November 2022 and currently sit second behind Australia in the ICC ODI and T20I world rankings.
At the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in South Africa, they finished as the semi-finalists, while missing out narrowly on a final four spot in the previous edition of the tournament last year.

Under Lewis, England also made the cut for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India later this year - finishing third in the Women’s Championship standings behind Australia and India.
During Lewis’ regime, England also drew the 2023 Women’s Ashes back home in a thrilling multi-format series.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as England Women’s Head Coach,” Lewis was quoted by the ECB.
“Unfortunately I won’t be able to finish this incredibly challenging but enjoyable job of developing this young team, whilst winning and growing the women’s game in this country.”
“I have worked tirelessly with this group of young players to develop their skills and understanding of modern-day white ball cricket, whilst still making good progress in 2024, winning 83% of all our games.
“I am proud that we have seen unprecedented bumper crowds in 2023 and 2024 and I am determined to continue to help drive women’s cricket forward in whatever comes next for me. I wish all the players the best and thank them for letting me be part of their journeys.”
England are yet to name a successor for Lewis, who will be taking over the role with the Cricket World Cup on the horizon.
