Event technical committee approves replacement for Andrie Steyn in South Africa squad
The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 has approved Odine Kirsten as the replacement for Andrie Steyn in the South Africa squad for the tournament.
Steyn injured her ankle during a training session. Her replacement Kirsten has played nine ODIs in which she has taken nine wickets and scored 35 runs. In two T20Is, Kirsten has taken one wicket and scored five runs.
The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.
The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 consists of Geoff Allardice (ICC, chairman), Campbell Jamieson (ICC representative), Steve Elworthy (Tournament Director), Alan Fordham (host representative), Anjum Chopra and Alison Mitchell (both independent nominees).
South Africa next plays India in Leicester on 8 July.
