Injury-hit former Test bowler Michael Kasprowicz has revealed plans to retire from cricket after Queensland's home List A match against Western Australia on February 16.

“It's time to give the state's younger pacemen a chance to finish out the season,” Kasprowicz was quoted as saying.

The fast bowler who turns 36 on Sunday made his first-class debut as a 17-year-old in 1989-90 and played 38 Tests for Australia, the last at South Africa in April, 2006, and took 113 wickets at an average of 32.88 with a best of 7-36.

He also played 43 one-day and two Twenty20 internationals.

Kasprowicz was limited to just nine deliveries last season due to back and groin problems and lost his Cricket Australia contract. He has been further hampered this season by calf and groin injuries.
