'Fine line between fearless and reckless' – Alyssa Healy
Australia are keen to win their fourth ICC Women’s World T20 title, having lost out to the Windies in 2016. They won the Twenty20 tri-series in India in March-April, defeating England in the final, and are looking forward to warming up for the World T20 in the Caribbean in November with a series against old foes New Zealand.
In a year when the bar for women’s T20 Internationals has been constantly raised by the teams, Australia have stressed on playing aggressive, 'fearless' cricket.
“Fearless is one of our keywords in our T20 cricket and in general, but there’s a fine line between fearless and reckless so it’s about finding that line and taking the game on without being reckless,” Healy told cricket.com.au.
“[That approach] does suit my personality and style of cricket down to a T, so hopefully I can go out there and play that way and get the team in a position to win matches.”
Healy, who has made the opening spot hers and is expected to get the team off the block quickly, said she enjoys batting during the Powerplay overs even though taking on the new ball is difficult.
“Batting with two fielders out helps, that’s probably the most fun part about opening the batting,” she said.

“Batting with the fresh ball is a bit of a challenge but at the same time, to get the freedom to go out there and express myself and take on the inner ring, that’s something I really enjoy doing.”
Australia’s T20I series against New Zealand begins on September 29.
