Terryn Fray, captain and opening batsman for the Bermuda U/19 team believes that the team has the potential to repeat its success in the ICC Americas U/19 Regional Qualifier in Canada.

Bermuda won the ICC Americas U/19 Qualifier in 2007 to claim the event championship and participated in the ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup 2008 in Malaysia.

How has the Bermuda Team prepared for the event?

The team's preparation schedule consisted of development of numerous skill sets, which entailed batting, bowling and fielding drills during the winter months. There were two training camps to confirm all the disciplines of the game. During the camp, players had regular skill based training, personal fitness training and spinning sessions. The team had lessons in Thai Chi to improve their balance and concentration.

In addition, the squad attended workshops on the World Anti-Doping Drug Association (WADA) Code with B.C.D.S, Nutritional Education classes and took part in team building exercises. Each afternoon, they finished the day by examining video analysis of their net sessions to review their performances and focus on what they need to do to improve. The squad participated in the Premier League, which allowed the coaches to identify strengths and weaknesses of the players and the team.

Who are your key players in the team?

I would expect right arm swing bowler Greg Maybury, left arm swing bowler Jordan DeSilva and myself as captain and opening batsman to make valuable contributions for the team.

How popular is cricket in your country?
