Healy to lead again as Kim Garth faces old Ireland teammates

Following their multi-format Ashes series against England currently in progress, a 14-player squad will travel to Dublin in late July,

It's a full circle moment for now-Australian bowler Kim Garth who has been picked in the squad, 13 years after making her senior international debut for Ireland as a 14-year-old, playing 114 matches for the country of her birth before moving to Australia in 2020.

Head of Performance (Women’s Cricket) and national selector Shawn Flegler hailed Garth's hard work as she returns home.

“Kim Garth has had a remarkable cricketing journey to this point of her career.

"She’s worked incredibly hard to earn her place on this tour and there’s no doubt it will be a unique experience for her."

Quick bowler Heather Graham has also been named in the squad, and will link up with the Australian group after the Australia A series, that has run in parallel to the Ashes. Graham comes in for Megan Schutt, who will be rested after the tour of the UK.

Flegler added the group will enjoy the unique challenges of Ireland and its conditions.

“While our players and staff are squarely focused on retaining the Ashes at present, there is excitement about returning to Ireland for the ODI series in the coming weeks.

“Taking on an emerging Ireland team in their home conditions will be a great challenge for our team off the back of an Ashes campaign.
