How were #CWC19 tickets sold to fans?

World Cup 2019 trophy

Fans were given an equal chance to purchase tickets for all #CWC19 fixtures in 2018 through two ticket ballot phases:

  • In May 2018, cricket fans across the world were recognised for their support through a one-month ‘Cricket Family Ballot’, offering priority access to tickets to all matches. This was promoted to all official supporter groups e.g. Barmy Army, Stani Army, Bharat Army, as well as through the Boards of each team e.g. ECB, Cricket Australia etc. It was also shared across key cricket groups in England & Wales e.g. the counties, All Stars, Play Cricket.
  • In August 2018, a one-month Public Ballot was launched for anyone around the world to buy tickets to every match in the tournament. This was promoted widely in the media and across CWC19 digital channels.

More tickets were made available to purchase in the subsequent General Sale period from Sep 2018 onwards on a first-come, first-served basis that was promoted across the media, CWC19 channels and through partners e.g. host cities, competing teams. Both ballots and the General Sale phases limited fans to six tickets per person to maximise the number of fans able to attend the world’s greatest cricket celebration.

The tournament has delivered packed stadiums with a diverse range of fans from over 140 countries providing brilliant support, demonstrating the cultural diversity of the host nation, as well as the popularity of cricket. These factors are helping deliver the greatest ever cricket celebration and growing the sport around the world as well as in England & Wales.
