ICC announces umpire and referee appointments for upcoming series in Kenya and West Indies

The International Cricket Council has announced the referees and umpires who will officiate in the upcoming ODI series in Kenya and the Test and ODI series in the West Indies.

Jeff Crowe from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees will take charge of the playing control team for the five-match ODI series between Kenya and Zimbabwe. The series will get underway with two matches in Mombasa followed by three in Nairobi. The third ODI of the series will be Crowe’s 100th as an ICC match referee.

The entire series will be umpired by Tyron Wijewardene of the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires along with local appointments.

Meanwhile, the Test series between the West Indies and England begins in Sabina Park, Jamaica on 4 February. The series will be refereed by Alan Hurst, also of the Emirates Elite Panel, and this four-match series will see a continuation of the trial of the umpire decision review system, which has been put to the test during several series to date.

Rudi Koertzen and Asoka de Silva, both of the Emirates Elite Panel, will stand in the first Test with another elite panelist, Daryl Harper, assuming the role of television umpire.

That team will stay together for the second Test in Antigua with Harper and de Silva standing and Koertzen performing the duties of television umpire.

The action then shifts to Barbados with Aleem Dar of the elite panel and Russell Tiffin of the international panel standing in the third Test with Harper as television umpire.

The fourth and final Test of the series will have Harper and Tiffin as the on-field umpires with Dar as television umpire.

There then follows a five-match ODI series involving Javagal Srinath of the Emirates Elite Panel as the match referee. This series will be umpired by Dar along with local appointments.

Appointments of match officials for other upcoming series will be announced in due course.
