ICC Chair Jay Shah on Olympics trail with series of global meetings
The new ICC Chair has been discussing cricket's place in the next Olympic Games and beyond.
ICC Chair Jay Shah has been hard at work in his new role, with some important meetings ticked off the agenda to ensure cricket's place in future Olympic Games – beginning with Los Angeles in 2028.
Most recently he headed to Lausanne, Switzerland, where he met with IOC president Thomas Bach as well as other Olympic dignitaries, and attended a Los Angeles Games International Federations seminar.
“We were delighted to meet with Thomas Bach and IOC officials," Shah said afterwards. "It was a productive meeting and an important milestone on the road to LA 2028. The inclusion of cricket in the Olympic Games represents a watershed moment for our sport and a real opportunity for transformative growth for 2028 and beyond.
“We discussed a range of critical issues and continued to build relationships with our friends across the Olympic movement. We look forward to the next three and half years working in collaboration with the IOC and LA 2028.”
At the end of last year, Shah travelled to Brisbane, Australia, for a meeting of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics Organising Committee.

Shah was a crucial part of the campaign to include cricket in the 2028 Games, to be held in Los Angeles, and wants to ensure the presence of the sport in Olympics to come.
This global stage will bring the sport to new audiences and benefit its players and fans as well as the world's sporting community.
