ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Ticket Prices Announced
Organisers are expecting more than a million people to attend what is one of the world’s biggest sporting events, to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, with more than a billion predicted to watch on television.
With a major focus on families, children’s tickets are available for every match including the tournament final, with children’s pools stage tickets just $5.
Adult ticket prices start at just $20, and Chief Executive of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, John Harnden, said he wanted as many people as possible to experience cricket’s showcase event.
“Australia and New Zealand last hosted the tournament in 1992 and since then it has become one of the biggest sporting events in the world,” Mr Harnden said.
“We’ve made sure the event is affordable, with more than two-thirds of all tickets $50 or under. This is a great opportunity to see the world’s best cricketers right here in our own backyard.
“Fans can buy any combination of tickets and have the flexibility to build their own World Cup experience,” he said.
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 will feature the world’s top 14 teams, with 49 matches to be played in 44 days across 14 host cities throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Christchurch will host the tournament’s opening match on 14 February, with the final to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 29 March.
With affordable prices available across all matches for the ICC’s flagship event in 2015, Mr Harnden anticipates tickets will be highly sought after.
“We expect high demand for tickets and we’re operating on a first come, first served basis. Fans are encourage to register early so they can get the seats the want,” he said.
Tickets go on general sale on February 14 next year, but fans can register online at www.cricketworldcup.com/register to receive access to a priority pre-sale. Travel packages for the tournament went on sale last week at www.icctravel.net.
