ICC U19 Mens CWC Qualification

ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 Qualification Summary

Sixteen teams will be competing at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Sri Lanka 2024 over 41 matches.

Eleven teams automatically qualified for the event as the best-placed Full Member nations from the previous event in 2022. These were: Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe.

The remaining five spots were determined through regional qualification pathways, with one team from each region securing a place at the event.

Americas and EAP each hosted one qualifying event in 2023, with the winner of each event sealing a spot at the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Sri Lanka 2024.

The Africa, Asia and Europe regions each had a two-step qualification structure. These regions hosted Division 2 Qualifiers in 2022 to determine the teams that will compete in the second and final qualifying event, the Regional Qualifier, with events taking place in 2023.

Only the winning teams from the Regional Qualifiers qualified for the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Sri Lanka 2024.

Nepal qualified through the Asia Qualifier held in the UAE in March/April after a series of thrilling performances culminated in their close victory over the tournament hosts.

New Zealand were the second team to qualify after securing the East Asia Pacific Qualifier. The young Blackcaps have a long history in the main competition and progressed thanks to an unbeaten campaign in Darwin back in June.

The Africa Qualifier in Tanzania was a competitive affair, and Namibia emerged victorious, booking their seat to Sri Lanka thanks to a number of high-quality bowling performances.

Scotland became the 15th nation to qualify after winning the Europe Qualifier in the Netherlands in early August. The Saltires overcame stiff competition in the see-saw event, and confirmed their spot after a thumping win over Italy.

The final spot was captured by the USA, who overcame hosts Canada in the final fixture to snatch top spot and complete the lineup of teams at the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka.
