ICC U19 Men's CWC West Indies and Sri Lanka captain quotes
West Indies 250/9; Sri Lanka 251/7
West Indies captain Giovonte Depeiza said:
“It was a great batting performance, we did well with the bat. One thing we do need to look at from this game is the fielding, we didn’t save enough runs in the field or take enough catches.
“Taking catches is very important at crucial stages and I think we dropped the guy that scored the runs but the positive is that we really batted well as a group, we put a good score on the board.
“I think we just needed 20 more runs on that wicket, it would have been a better game, but we really fought hard. We can improve on our fielding, we’re a better fielding unit that we displayed today.
“We just need to keep batting the way we batted, as I think we batted well. It has been a great experience so far, every day the conditions are different and the fellas are willing to learn more.
“We’re improving a lot as a unit and as a group.”
Sri Lanka captain Dunith Wellalage said:
“We are always planning to win one match at a time and we want to do that always, cutting out the small mistakes. We always try to do our best and today my team did really well and I’m happy for them.
“Overall, my team did really well so we have to improve some small things. We want to keep practicing as well and improve those small things.
“It’s a good tournament for me and my team. We want to take the experience of this World Cup and we want to do our best in the future.”
