ICC Women's Player of the Month for January 2025 announced

Mooney was a dominant force during the multi-format Ashes series against England, with the left-hander beating out strong opposition from West Indies spinner Karishma Ramharack and India Under-19 star Trisha Gongadi to win the coveted monthly accolade.

It is the first time Mooney has ever won the monthly ICC award and the second in succession for Australian players after in-form all-rounder Annabel Sutherland took home the honour in December of 2024.

“It’s an honour to be named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month and I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me," Mooney said.

“January was an incredible month for the Australian Women’s Cricket Team. Winning the Ashes in front of a home crowd was very special and to complete the series playing in the first ever day-night Test at the MCG in front of a record crowd for a Women’s Test is a moment that we will all never forget.

“This team continues to achieve amazing results, and I am so proud to be a part of it.”

Mooney was in excellent form during the ODI and T20I series against England at home, excelling especially in the shortest format when she scored two fifties which included a knock of 94 not out as Australia whitewashed their arch-rival 3-0 in the T20I component of the Ashes.

Mooney was undoubtedly Australia's standout batter, earning the Player of the Match award in both the first and final T20Is of the series.

She also finished as the leading run-scorer across the T20Is.

Apart from her batting brilliance, Mooney was outstanding behind the stumps, taking three catches and executing a stumping during the T20I series while deputising for usual keeper Alyssa Healy.

Mooney amassed 213 runs in three T20Is at an average of 106.50 and an exceptional strike rate of 146.89.

She also scored 90 runs in three ODIs at an average of 30 and a strike rate of 82.56 during the month.
