The ICC World Twenty20 final between India and Pakistan was the tenth most watch sports event on television during 2007, according to a global report.
The exhilarating contest between India and Pakistan was watched by an estimated total of 40 million people across the world, putting the game amongst the league of other highly watched sports such as American football (NFL), the English Premier League (EPL football), FIA Formula One World Championship and tennis grand slam events.
The unique appeal of the Indian team to cricket fans and also the success, which Twenty20 cricket had attracted millions of fans to the sport, the report added.
The second edition of the ICC World Twenty20 will be held in England in the year 2009.
While, NFL Super Bowl with a total of 142 millions audiences topped the most viewed list, Formula One - Brazilian Grand Prix was ranked second and UEFA European Champions League Final between Milan and Liverpool was the third most cited event last year.
