Important information for media travelling to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022
Please read the following information well in advance to ensure you understand all requirements for media.
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Captains Day Media Interaction
For the first time in the history of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup all captains will be together for a media interaction in central Melbourne.
The Captains Day event will take place at the Plaza Ballroom where there will be an opportunity to hear from each captain, ask questions and be a part of history. Reporters, camerapersons and photographers will be permitted to capture content of the media interaction from a designated spot. It will also be livestreamed via ICC channels.
Please note that the ICC will capture imagery of all 16 captains at the event prior to its commencement and will make this available to media via the Online Media Zone.

Timings:
- Media to arrive at 12h00 AEST.
- Media interaction to begin at 12h30 AEST (please note latecomers will not be able to enter the building).
- Media interaction to finish at 13h30 AEST

Media accreditation
- If for whatever reason you do not intend to travel to Australia and to cover the event, please let us know as soon as possible by emailingaccreditation@t20worldcup.com.au
- You will shortly be receiving confirmation on your World Cup match choices to make your travel plans, please be aware that some matches are oversubscribed and we will be accepting media per the pecking order detailed in the FAQs
- If you are no longer planning on attending a match you have received confirmation for please email accreditation@t20worldcup.com.au clearly detailing which match(es) you will not be attending. Failure to inform the team of non-attendance will result in dropping down the priority list for future matches and events.
- We will be reopening the accreditation portal towards the end of the First Round for media to reconfirm their match choices for Super 12 fixtures which are still TBC.
- Application for Semi-Finals and the Final will also be reopened towards the end of the Super 12s, once we know which teams will be participating in the three matches.
- You would have received a confirmation email already stating where you can collect your media accreditation this is also available here on the Men’s T20 World Cup resources page.
Attending Matches
Warm up matches
- The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup warm up match schedule is here.
- There will be no official warm-up match media interactions on match day-1 or post-match. Therefore, for any media interactions with teams within this period, please contact team media managers directly.
- Media will be able to attend Round 1 and Super 12 warm up matches, please confirm your attendance by filling this form out here by Friday 7 October. This is to enable us to have indicative numbers for the matches, where there will be a basic overlay of media facilities.
- NRH camerapersons will not be allowed to film inside the venue at warm-up matches.
Tournament matches
- The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup match schedule ishere.
- NRH camerapersons will not be allowed inside the venues on a match day and there is no filming allowed inside the venue on a match day.
- Media will be informed of their match choices by receiving a successful email or logging on to the portal.
Media Engagements and Training
- All media engagement and training details will be sent via media advisory the day before as per previous ICC events.
- Only Match day -1 training will be open for media. The current training schedule for all teams is available here and is to be used as a guide for planning purposes. This is subject to change, so please check the media advisory for final confirmation of activities.
- All match day -1 media conferences will follow a hybrid model, where all engagements will be accessible via Zoom.
- Post-match there will be hybrid media conferences with each team. In addition, there will also be the reintroduction of mixed zones at ICC events for additional interview opportunities for media at the venue with players.
Bio Safety
The Event Biosafety Scientific Advisory Group (BSAG) have recommended that the event should be staged within a Health Safe Environment (HSE). The HSE is defined as an approach to constructing an environment where individuals take personal responsibility for managing their own health and safety to prevent the transmission of COVID 19.
The BSAG has strongly recommended that participants are fully vaccinated and use health mitigation lower risk behaviours (social distancing, sanitisation, mask wearing, mixing in open air spaces) and appropriate early management of illness in order to safeguard their health and to prevent the spread of infection.
The success of the event relies on everyone including media personnel taking personal responsibility and not attending the venue if you feel unwell. If you attend with symptoms and are found to have contracted COVID, you will be impacting other colleagues.
- For all media sitting indoors for matches masks are mandatory except when eating or drinking. i.e. Media Boxes, Indoor media areas, Photographers working room.
- For all media conferences and mixed zone activities a mask must be worn.
- For photographers working outside there is a recommendation of masks to be worn, but this is not mandatory.
Some other important points to note with regard to biosafety measures
- Do not attend a match or training if you are unwell. Please let the media operations team know you will not be attending a match.
- If you test positive for COVID-19 at any time, accredited media will need to undertake any isolation period imposed by government guidelines at that time and are personally responsible to understand their obligations. The current guideline for Australia is 5-day isolation in a non-governmental facility.
- Once your 5-day isolation is completed you are free to move around as per the current government guidelines.
