India tour of Australia: All you need to know

Aus v Ind

The multi-format series between the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup finalists – Australia and India – will begin on 21 September comprising three ODIs, one Test and three T20Is.

Australia are currently on a red hot streak of 24 wins in a row in ODIs while India is yet to register an ODI series win against the hosts.

The last time these sides met was in the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup final where Australia came out victorious even though India had handed them a loss in the Group Stage.

The tour between the two sides was pushed forward by two days due to Covid-19 with the outbreaks in Sydney and Melbourne forcing the entire series to be relocated to Queensland. The ODI series will now be contested in Mackay while the one-off pink-ball Test and T20Is in Carrara.

POINTS SYSTEM

A new points-based system will be deployed in this series to determine the winners for the first time, between India and Australia.

A team will be awarded two points for a win in a limited-overs match while a team will be given four points for the win in Test. In the event of a draw or tie in the Test, the two teams will split the points.

However, if the total points with each team at the end of the multi-format series are the same, the trophy will be shared.
