IPL injury watch: International stars that have been ruled out of the tournament
The IPL is reaching its business end and the battle for the play-off spots is really heating up. The league has lived up to its billing so far, with top stars, both international and domestic, setting the league on fire.
However, along the way, there have been several top international stars that have had to leave the tournament owing to injury. We take a look at which top stars have been injured during the IPL.
Ravindra Jadeja
India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja endured a tumultuous IPL 2022 campaign before he was ruled out with injury. He was named the captain of the Chennai Super Kings before the start of the season, but with results not going in their favour, the captaincy was handed back to MS Dhoni. On the field, he scored only 116 runs from 10 innings and picked just five wickets
To make matters worse, Jadeja suffered a rib injury during CSK's match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 4. He was subsequently ruled out of the rest of the IPL.

At the time, there is no update on when he is expected to return, but Team India will be hoping he is fit and firing soon, given how important a player he is going to be when they travel to Australia later in the year for the T20 World Cup.
Pat Cummins
Australia Test captain Pat Cummins was the most recent name to be ruled out of the IPL. The pacer, representing Kolkata Knight Riders, has flown back home after he sustained a hip injury.
Cummins will continue to rehabilitate and will be hoping to recover in time for the tour of Sri Lanka. He has already been rested for the T20I leg of the tour but will be a crucial part of the ODIs and Test series against the Islanders.
Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav was a late bloomer for India – he debuted for India only at 30 years of age, but ever since he was picked, he has made the middle-order spot his own in ODIs and T20Is.
He was in brilliant form for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022 and was in fact one of the few bright spots in a dismal campaign for the five-time champions. He amassed 303 runs in eight games at an average of 43.29 and striking at 145.67.
Surya suffered a left forearm muscle injury during Mumbai's match against Gujarat Titans on 6 May and is reportedly set to be out for at least four weeks. The injury could rule him out of the first few games of the five-match T20I series against South Africa, which is set to commence on 9 June.

Deepak Chahar
India pacer Deepak Chahar never managed to recover from the quadricep tear he suffered during the series against West Indies in February. Though it was initially reported that he would be unavailable only for the first phase of the tournament, a back injury he suffered during rehab all but ruled him out of the tournament.
Chahar has been an important part of India's white-ball teams of late and will be hoping to be fit in time for the T20 World Cup in Australia.
Adam Milne
Kiwi pacer Adam Milne had a blink-and-miss IPL season. Playing for Chennai Super Kings, he sustained a hamstring injury in the very first game of the Indian Premier League and was eventually ruled out for the reason of the season.
Milne returned to the T20I fold in 2021 after a gap of almost three years. The tearaway speedster was initially part of the reserves in New Zealand's T20 World Cup 2021 squad but was drafted to the squad after Lockie Ferguson missed out due to injury and went on to play an important role in his team's road to the final.
Tymal Mills
An ankle injury ruled England star, Tymal Mills, out of the IPL. Mills was part of the Mumbai Indians and had a tournament to forget, picking just six wickets in five matches at an economy of 11.18.
Mills, like Milne, made a comeback to his national team last year after a gap of three years and was picked for the 2021 T20 World Cup in the absence of Jofra Archer. His World Cup campaign too was cut short due to injury and flew back home before England's semi-final exit.
