Ireland stars reach new heights following rankings update
There has been some movement on the latest ODI rankings following the first two matches of Ireland's series in Zimbabwe.
A host of players from Ireland and Zimbabwe have been rewarded with new career-high ratings on the updated MRF Tyres ICC Women's ODI Player Rankings.
Classy opener Gaby Lewis guided Ireland to a comprehensive 10-wicket victory in the opening match of the series with a stylish 65* and backed that up with a decent haul of 42 in the thrilling tie in the second clash in Harare and was duly rewarded with an 11-spot rise to 13th on the latest ODI rankings for batters.
Teammate Amy Hunter also reaches a new career high rating on the same list for batters that is still headed by England's Natalie Sciver-Brunt following scores of 36* and 21 catapulted the young right-hander up five places to 37th on the latest rankings.
The biggest mover for Zimbabwe came from Ashley Ndiraya, with the experienced left-hander jumping from outside the top 100 to equal 78 on the latest rankings for ODI batters following scores of 47 and 41 in the opening two matches against the Irish.
A trio of Ireland players are also on the rise on the updated rankings for ODI bowlers, with experienced seamer Arlene Kelly leading the way by rising 11 spots to 31st after a spell of 4/35 in the second game of the series against Zimbabwe.
Ireland skipper Laura Delany rises eight places to 41st and a new career-best rating following two wickets from the opening two games, while young quick Ava Canning improves 10 places to 63rd after some economical bowling and two scalps of her own against Zimbabwe.
There was also some joy for Zimbabwe spinner Kelis Ndhlovu, with the teenager moving from outside the top 100 to 65th and a new career-best rating following her superb spell of 3/36 in the second match against Ireland.
