Josh Hazlewood excited to bowl with the pink ball in his 50th Test

The 28-year-old has enjoyed great success at the Adelaide Oval, claiming 22 wickets in four games at 20.22. Three of these Tests were played under lights with the pink ball, and Hazlewood returned 18 wickets at 19.44 in those fixtures.

The fast bowler is excited to return to the venue for the second Test against Pakistan. "I love Adelaide the most I think," Hazlewood told cricket.com.au. "I have had good success there. I think the pink ball in Adelaide is a pretty similar length to the red ball here (at the Gabba). You want to get it up there, you want to get it quite full.

"The pink ball does swing for probably a bit longer and if you've got a new one at night we know what can happen. I'm looking forward to getting it back in the hand, it's been quite a while. I missed the one last year against Sri Lanka here, so I am looking forward to getting back bowling with the pink one."

Hazlewood, placed 13th on the MRF Tyres ICC Test Rankings for bowling, was superb in the away Ashes, claiming 20 wickets in just four games, helping Australia level the series 2-2 to retain the urn in England for the first time in 18 years. He played a key role in Australia's fate-sealing win in Manchester, picking up six wickets, including the final one, trapping Craig Overton in front in the tense, dying stages of the fifth evening.

Hazlewood picked out that game, and the celebrations that followed, as the highlight of his career so far. "Probably Manchester, not that long ago," he said. "To retain the Ashes over there and be the person to get that last wicket. It was a pretty special moment. There are some good moments of the team celebrating. It's just a great memory."

The second and final Test between Australia and Pakistan will begin on Friday, 29 November. Australia lead the series 1-0.
