Josh Hazlewood ruled out of Scotland tour

Australia have confirmed the replacement for injured Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood suffered a calf injury and will miss the three-match T20I series in Scotland. He will, however, return for the white-ball series against England. Hazlewood suffered a low-grade right calf strain while bowling at training in Sydney on Tuesday, 20 August.

Riley Meredith has been named as his replacement. The speedster will be making an international return following a three-year absence as he returns to Australia's squad. Meredith played all of his five T20Is in 2021, picking eight wickets with an average of 23.50.

Along with Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc will also be sitting out of the Scotland tour. Starc will be back for the ODIs against England, beginning September 19, while Pat Cummins will miss the entire trip. Previously it was confirmed that left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson will miss out on the whole UK tour due to a side strain.

Mitchell Marsh will be leading Australia through the UK tour in Cummins's absence who is taking a break to prime himself for the busy summer ahead; the highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy scheduled for later this year in December, and Pakistan touring for a white-ball series during early-November.
