Kapil Dev opens up on this week's ICC Cricket World audio show
On this week's ICC Cricket World, former India captain Kapil Dev expresses his delight at being inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, which is run in association with FICA.
Kapil, the 1983 World Cup winning captain says: "I'm very proud and happy that a game I played and passionately enjoyed being a part of has recognised my performances and achievements.
"I think my greatest cricketing memory has to be winning the ICC Cricket World Cup in 1983 ? to have so many people there and to make your country proud is a fantastic memory for me when it comes to looking back on my career."
Kapil's opposite number in the 1983 final and fellow Hall of Famer Clive Lloyd, who attended the induction, comments: "Kapil's been great player, a wonderful cricketer and a great friend of mine. He set the pace for India early on in the side's cricketing history and he played like a true champion. Kapil is an extremely deserving candidate to be inducted into the Hall of Fame."
The show can be used in whole or part by radio stations that want cricket content, while the public can also download it straight from the ICC website at http://www.icc-cricket.com/media_interactive_zone/podcast.php.
Also on this week's show ICC match referee Chris Broad talks about his experiences as a referee.
Did Broad enjoy playing cricket or refereeing?
"It's a difficult question," he says, "and if you'd asked me 30 years ago I would have replied differently but I think while you have the opportunity to play you must play for as long as possible.
"I have a fantastic job now that I am still involved in international cricket, I see some amazing games of cricket whether it be Tests or One-Day Internationals or the newer format of Twenty20.
"We're asked to do a lot more now as referees than when I first came into it but it's still the most enjoyable job and if the job every lost the enthusiasm and enjoyment it'd be time to give up!"
Apart from the above interviews, this week's ICC Cricket World also includes a review of the current Australia tour of New Zealand, round-up of the last seven days in cricket and an update on the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings.
The weekly ICC Cricket World audio show runs for 15 minutes and has been put together by the ICC's global broadcast partner ESPN STAR Sports.
