Live Blog: Day 3 Pacific Games

25331 Toss

4:25pm: Jack Vare top scored for PNG with 22 and Yabaki 1-13 was the best for Fiji.

That's it for today see you Friday morning for the bronze medal match between Vanuatu and New Caledonia and then Friday afternoon for the Gold Medal Match between Fiji and PNG

4:05pm: Jack Vare pulls one to the fence for 4 and that's the match. PNG got the runs in the 14th over with 7 wickets in hand.

Fiji with a lot of work to do between now and Friday if they are to challenge for Gold.

4:00pm It has suddenly got very cold and cloudy here in Noumea. This is the first time I have been cold in the Pacific!

PNG nearly home now. 3-85 off 12 overs. 6 to win.

3:50pm Jack Vare and Vani Vagi are now doing the damage for PNG once again demonstrating the depth in their experienced batting line up.

PNG 3-63 off 9 overs.

3:40pm: Vala it out off the bowling of Yabaki. This kid just keeps improving and should become a huge asset for Fiji for the next decade.

PNG 3-56 off 7.4

3:35pm: Tony Ura has finally failed with the bat. Something I have never seen. Assad Vala is settling in nicely and is due for a big score though.

Kapena is also in fine form again after his 62 yesterday.

PNG 2-53 off 7 overs and cruising.

3:05pm: So Fiji all out for 91 in 19.2 overs.

Leading runs Guana 26 and Ravoka 22. For PNG Jason Kila 3-21, John Boge 2-2.

2:50pm: Fiji all out for 91. They'll be disapointed after such a promising start but this is such a common scene against sides like PNG who don't give you an inch. Jason Kila was outstanding with the ball.

2:40pm: Cricket can change so quickly. Just after my last update Lomani smashed Jason Kila for 6 then Kila got revenge clean bowling him the next ball. Since then Fiji has collapsed thanks to 3 more wickets to Kila and horrible run out!

Fiji 8-86 off 17.

2:30pm Maciu Gauna just smash two massive massive...massive 6s! Fiji 3-60 off 14 overs.

2:15pm: As is always the case when I make a big statement about a player the opposite happens. Ravoka is out and Fiji are 3-41 off 11 overs.

2:05pm: Sekove Ravoka has looked seriously impressive at this tournament. Every shot hit along the ground and giving away very few chances. So far the PNG bowlers are not causing him any trouble at all.

Fiji 1-36 off 8 overs.

1:55pm: Not a heap of action to speak of so far in this one. Fiji captain Jo Rika is out caught behind after a nice peice of bowling from Inoa Baeau.

Apart from that Fiji are ticking along nicely with Ravoka and Kida pushing a number of singles to take the total to 1-24 off 6 overs

1:20pm: Fiji has won the toss and will bat against PNG in a preview of the Gold Medal match.

Will the sides go all out today or will they hold a few tactics back for the big one?

12:30pm: 2nd inningsScores in Brief.

Best bowlers for Vanuatu were Patrick Matautaava with 3-8 and Nalin Nipiko with 2-2.

For New Caledonia Wilfred Fuimaono made 17

12:00pm New Caledonia have been bowled out for 50! Top scorers and wicket takers to follow soon.

11:35am: Falaone Fuimaono and Wilfred Fuimaono are showing some good fighting spirit for New Caledonia in testing conditions against a Vanuatu side clearly on a mission.

the partnership between the pair has passed 20 now. New Caledonia now 5-47 off 11 overs.

11:20am: Vanuatu dominating with the ball. New Caledonia 5-22 off 6 overs.

10:45am A staggering 47 off the last two overs from Mansale and Matautaava has given Vanuatu a total of 4-208!

Stand outs Mansale with 94 and Obed with 46. For New Caledonia Falaone took 1-16

10:25am: Mansale just about took out two spectators with a monster hit over mid-wicket.

Vanuatu 4-161 off 18 overs

10:15am: Obed and Nipiko are out but Mansale continues his dominance bringing up a fine half century.

Vanuatu 4-142 off 16 overs

9:50am: Young deaf Cricketer Willie John made his debt for Vanuatu today but unfortunately was run out cheaply.

Obed and Mansale are now smashing them everywhere.

Vanuatu 2-86 off 11 overs. Mansale looks like a man on a mission today with the disapointment of yesterday evident in his approach.

8:50am: Welcome to another sunny day at the 14th Pacific Games in New Caledonia.

New Caledonia has won the toss and sent Vanuatu in to bat.
