Mandhana closes on top three as India, New Zealand players enjoy Rankings boosts

Performers in the third India v New Zealand Women's ODI enjoy improvements in latest ICC Women's Player Rankings.

Standouts from India's third ODI against New Zealand in Ahmedabad have been rewarded with boosts across the latest ICC Women's Player Rankings this week.

While Smriti Mandhana did not climb a position after her 100 (122 balls) in India's batting innings, the effort helped the left-hander close the gap to Chamari Athapaththu who sits in third spot.

Mandhana moved from 703 to 728 ranking points, inches behind Athatpaththu's 733, with Laura Wolvaardt (756) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (760) safely sitting at the top of the rankings. Harmanpreet Kaur meanwhile made an entry back into the top 10 thanks to her unbeaten 59*, moving to 654 rating points and to join New Zealand's Sophie Devine in equal-ninth.

New Zealand's notable rankings jump came for Brooke Halliday, whose 86 (96) led to a jump of 12 spots to 24th (524 rating points), one of five White Ferns currently in the top 25.

The off-spinner took 3/39 (10), moving her rating to 703 points, 17 points clear from England's Kate Cross (686). Sophie Ecclestone remains well clear in top spot (770). Priya Mishra meanwhile entered the top 100 thanks to figures of 2/41.

Lea Tahuhu's late charge with the bat (24* off 14 balls) in the match was enough for a five-spot jump in the ODI All-Rounder rankings, the only jump of note in the categroy in the latest update.

The performance led to a move up to 27th (126 ranking points), with Harmanpreet (up two spots to 33rd) and Suzie Bates (up one spot to 35th) also enjoying minor jumps in top-50 shuffles.
