Melie Kerr ruled out of remaining India ODIs

New Zealand all-rounder Melie Kerr will miss the remaining ODIs against India after suffering a quadricep injury.

Kerr tore her left quadricep muscle in the first game in Ahmedabad, which New Zealand lost by 59 runs. She was the top performer for the recently crowned ICC Women's T20 World Cup Champions in the first ODI, accounting for four wickets and scoring 25 runs.

Kerr was taken to the hospital for scans the day after the game which confirmed a quadricep tear, which will take approximately three weeks to heal.

"We’re really gutted for Melie,” Ben Sawyer, the White Ferns head coach expressed his disappointment at the news. “Injuries are always a challenging time for a player and we know how disappointed she is to not be able to play these games.

“Everyone knows how much of an integral part of this team Melie is so we’ll certainly miss her but we’re wishing her a speedy recovery.”
