Mithali Raj's journey in ICC Women's T20 World Cups
The former India T20I skipper led her side in three 20-over World Cups, and also featured in the 2018 edition of the tournament in the Caribbean.
In total, she played 24 matches in across the four T20 marquee tournaments and, out of those, she led her side in 13 games. Overall, she has scored 726 runs, is the fourth-highest run-getter in tournament's history – behind Suzie Bates, Stafanie Taylor and Charlotte Edwards – and also has five tournament fifties to her name.
Among the batters, she has the best average – 40.33 – in all the 20-over Women's World Cups combined.
We look back to how Raj fared in each of the T20 World Cups she played in.
ICC Women's World T20 2009, England
In the 2009 edition, India finished second in the Group B table after registering two wins out of three games they played against England, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Later, the side lost the semi-final encounter against New Zealand by 52 runs. Raj, who was playing in her first World T20, registered scores of 29, 10, 32* and 20. She finished the tournament as India's highest run-getter, scoring 91 runs at an average of 30.33.
ICC Women's World T20 2010, West Indies
This time placed in Group B with New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, India once again finished second in the table after New Zealand, recording two wins out of three. India once again failed to qualify for the final, having lost the semi-final to Australia by seven wickets. Raj scored 145 runs from four games at an impressive average of 72.50. She also was the second-highest run-getter of the tournament, finishing behind New Zealand's Sara McGlashan, who hit just two runs more than the Indian batter.

ICC Women's World T20 2012, Sri Lanka
India did not register a single win at the 2012 edition. They lost all the three group games to England, Australia and Pakistan. It was the first time Raj led the side at the World T20. India, however, won a spot in the 2014 Women's World T20 after beating Sri Lanka in the qualification game by nine wickets. The Indian skipper registered scores of 18, 35, 15 and 28*, at an overall average of 32.33.
ICC Women's World T20 2014, Bangladesh
India, who were placed in Group B with England, West Indies, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, won only two out of their four games, failed to seal a spot in the semi-finals, but went on to win the qualification game for the next edition – the 2016 Women's World T20 – after beating Pakistan by six runs. Raj once again finished as India's highest run-getter, and third-highest overall, with 208 runs from five games at an average of 52. She recorded her best tournament score of 57 against England and also notched up another fifty against West Indies in the group stage.
ICC Women's World T20 2016, India
India finished fourth in the Group B table, behind England, West Indies and Pakistan, only above Bangladesh after losing three games out of the four and failed to cement a spot in the semi-finals, at home. In that edition, Raj's form also dropped, as she accumulated only 78 runs, averaging just 19.50.
ICC Women's World T20 2018, West Indies
Mithali was absent for most of the tournament and played only three games. In her last two appearances, she added two fifties to her tally, scoring a 47-ball 56 and 51 from 56, against Pakistan and Ireland respectively, in the group stage. India reached the semi-finals but lost to England by eight wickets. Mithali did not play in that game. Despite featuring in three games, and not getting a chance to bat in one of them, Mithali finished as India's third-highest run-getter, scoring 107 runs at an average of 53.50.
