Naveed Nawaz appointed Bangladesh Under-19 head coach
Nawaz played a solitary Test and three ODIs for Sri Lanka and has been actively involved in the coaching structure since retiring as a player in 2004. He was head coach for the Sri Lanka U-19 side from 2009 to 2014 and has also worked as a batting coach for the Sri Lanka Emerging Players Squad in 2014-15.
"We have appointed him (Nawaz) as our head coach until next World Cup," the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced in a statement on Tuesday 17 July. "We expect his vast experience at working with age-level players will help him to take our cricketers forward."
The 44-year-old replaced Damien Wright, who had been at the helm since the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2018 earlier this year. Nawaz will oversee the Bangladesh U-19 team programmes and will prepare the side for the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2020 that will be held in South Africa.
