New leader at the helm as Bangladesh reveal squad for West Indies ODIs
Bangladesh have named a 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against West Indies.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz will continue to captain Bangladesh in the absence of regular skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto, who continues to recover from a groin injury. This will be the first time Mehidy will captain in the ODI format. He is also the stand-in leader in the ongoing Test series in West Indies.
The BCB’s medical team has also confirmed the unavailability of middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy, who is dealing with groin issues.
Pacer Taskin Ahmed's brilliant spell
On the other hand, batter Zakir Hasan has been dropped following underwhelming performances against Afghanistan last month. Left-hander Afif Hossain Dhrubo has been recalled to the ODI squad after a year. Fast bowler Nahid Rana retains his spot after an impressive debut against Afghanistan.
Bangladesh will play three ODIs against the West Indies, starting on December 8. This marks the beginning of the white-ball leg, following the two Test matches, with the ODIs being followed by three T20Is.
