Pakistan dealt Fakhar Zaman injury blow for South Africa Boxing Day Test

Fakhar Zaman has been left out despite scoring 94 and 66 in his only Test appearance

Zaman sustained the injury in Pakistan's T20I victory against Australia in October while effecting a spectacular run-out, but continued to play in the following limited overs games against New Zealand. It is now understood that his omission from Pakistan's side for the Test series with the Kiwis was in aid of his rehabilitation.

Zaman will join up with the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) medical staff on Tuesday 4 December, where he will be assessed and a recovery plan will be devised.

Zaman made a blistering start to his Test career in October after making a name for himself in the limited overs sides, scoring 94 and 66 in his solitary Test match against Australia in the UAE.

Pakistan commence their three-match Test series with South Africa on 26 December, before five ODIs and three T20Is follow.
